"Love Hurts" → youtube.com

honestalceste:

This song regards how love is cruel. It describes how I felt when I was with, and in the time after I was finished, with Celimene. It was painful and hard to witness the many number of suiters she had, as well as her lies, but, I learned briefly to forgive her. Still, though, there is no good reason to tolerate one’s bad behavior!

I once was a true supporter of every message in this song (even if I didn’t openly show it). I firmly believed that love was caustic and that the world would be better if it didn’t exist. However, my love, Eliante, did eventually fall in love with me too. Just I’ve said multiple times before, you just have to be optimistic, and things will work out the way they’re supposed to. Never give up on the one you love, because love takes time, and with a little patience, your lover can quickly turn into a bride-to-be, and when that happens, you’ll be happier than you ever were. Just stay positive, and never give up.

The Silver Lining: Forgive Me → eliante123.tumblr.com

eliante123:

My dear Philinte, you were right! I see it now, we do belong together! I realized this just now when Alceste heard about Celimene’s disloyalty. He said to me, Madam, this heart within my breast is yours; pray take it; redeem my heart from her, and so avenge me on my torturer. It was then that I…

My love, have no fear. As I told you earlier, that’s my heart’s most cherished goal, for which I’d gladly give my life and soul. However, Alceste is on the brink of running away to isolation, despite my persistent pleading. I’ve tried to convince him to stay, but you were in love with Alceste once, so I’m sure you’re aware of how stubborn he is. Although our most prevalent morals horrendously contradict each other, Alceste is still my best friend. So help me, my bride-to-be, we must do everything we can to change the mind of this unhappy man before he throws his own life away.

Love...

Eliante,

I merely wanted to inform you that I am trying to fall asleep while thinking about you this evening. Needless to say, it’s extremely difficult. Now, I understand that you are in love with Alceste, fine man though he is, but there are a number of signs that lead me to believe that he is falling in love with that Celimene. Have you seen her lately? Just gorgeous, more beautiful and charming than ever. Anyways, never forget that to make you love me is my heart’s most cherished goal, for which I’d gladly give my life and soul. Although I am now second best, I’ll always feel this way until you can steer your mind away from that pessimistic Alceste.

Please click on the title of this article to read about what happens when you voice all of your negative opinions and try to change too much about our complicated society. In just two years, nine teenagers in the same school district have taken their own lives! Hopefully, reading this, you’re not being too naive as toassume they just took their own lives for no particular reason. They were all bullied unjustly for their homosexuality. What’s worse, the district actually put into place anti-bullying policies! I can only assume that these policies added to the fire of depression that eventually consumed these poor adolescents. Here we have not one but two moral felonies: spreading negative opinion (criticizing teenagers for their sexuality) AND trying to bite off more societal change than one can chew (trying to change the world by enforcing anti-gay policies). Alceste, I shan’t lie, this post is first and foremost directed at you. Please read the article thoroughly. Is this what you hope to achieve through your “frankness?” Ending lives? I beg of you, rage less at your opponents,* for plans do not always follow through as one originally intends. I may also add that although this would be an excellent read for a man like Alceste, this article is really excellent material that displays the horrendous consequences of being openly opinionated, and anyone and everyone should read it if they have the time.

I advocate only frankness with flaws.  Homosexuality, however, is not a flaw.  If we are to refrain from criticism, should we let these deplorable bullies continue harassing people to the point of suicide?  This is a flaw that needs to be corrected, and I doubt even you could argue with that.

In answer to your question, no, we cannot let these bullies continue with their harassment. However, with all due respect, my friend, I was implying that you are one of these “deplorable bullies.” All that I’m saying is that you should be careful how you say what you say, because we wouldn’t want anyone else to end up like these poor kids…

Just Another Day

I decided to just walk through the city today with a particularly keen ear, and I was taken aback by the harsh lack of sympathy and discretion displayed by the public. It seemed that everywhere I would stop, there was negativity. I popped into a Starbucks to grab a coffee and overheard a businessman complaining rather loudly about the eternal five minutes that he had to wait for his drink. A bit later in the morning, at the newspaper stand right next to the pastry shop, I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on a wife criticizing her husband for that doughnut he just bought but didn’t need due to that ever-growing potbelly. I mean seriously, in polite society, custom decrees that we show certain outward courtesies, but it seems that I’m the only one with this opinion. Sir, give the cashier a break, you’ll survive standing for an extra minute or two, and ma’am, doughnuts are delicious, that’s a fact you’ll just have to accept. Life is life, just enjoy it, and if you don’t have something nice to say, please don’t say it at all.
